This year’s summer solstice at Ilkley Lido was nothing short of extraordinary. With a 4.30 am opening and over 230 participants taking the plunge, it was our biggest turnout yet, showcasing the growing popularity and community spirit of this beloved tradition. This impressive number of participants highlighted the event’s increasing appeal and the strong sense of community that it fosters. Friends, families, and solo swimmers came together, united by their love for the lido and the joy of celebrating the solstice. With its record-breaking turnout and the stunning natural backdrop, it has solidified its place as a highlight of the summer calendar and demonstrated the commitment of the community to preserve this wonderful facility for generations to come. The event’s success is a testament to the enduring appeal of outdoor swimming and the strong sense of community in Ilkley. Thank you to Bradford Council and all of the staff at the pool for their hard work in making this wonderful event happen.
Here’s to many more sunrises, swims, and wonderful days in Ilkley!
